Overview
Microsoft Teams EEA (European Economic Area) is a special add-on for Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 and E5 plans in the EEA region. Since October 2023, Microsoft Teams is no longer included by default in Enterprise plans due to regulatory changes and must be purchased as a separate add-on.
What is Microsoft Teams EEA?
EEA stands for European Economic Area and refers to the regulatory changes that have been in effect in the EEA region since October 2023. Microsoft removed Teams from Microsoft 365 Enterprise plans to comply with regulatory requirements. The Teams EEA Add-On enables organizations to add Microsoft Teams to their existing Microsoft 365 Enterprise licenses.
When do you need this Add-On?
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3/E5: If you use these plans in the EEA region and need Teams functionality
- EEA Region: For organizations in the European Economic Area
- Teams Features: For chat, meetings, calls, file sharing, and collaboration

Note
Microsoft Teams is already included in all Microsoft 365 Business plans. Only Enterprise plans (E3/E5) in the EEA region require this add-on since the regulatory changes in October 2023.
